Foods produced using nanotechnology, prior authorization and the placing pls on the market of a specific risk assessment must be carried out, - the requirements reinstalled the European Parliament's Environment and Health Committee. Also banned from cloned animals and their offspring in the food industry.
In preparation for the second reading in Parliament Environment Committee repeatedly insists that the regulation on novel foods (which were not used in Europe before 1997) authorizing the procedure to exclude foods produced by nanotechnology, and products derived from cloned animals and their offspring.
The Committee emphasizes that before nanotechnology acquired food licensing take risks, and all the ingredients indicated on the label. In the case of animal cloning, it argues that cloning is contrary to the rules on animal protection. It therefore calls on the Commission to submit a separate legislative proposal on these issues.
As an example of nanotechnology for use in food production include fruit and vegetables, waxy coating pls nanokārtiņu longer storage, as well as some improvement in consistency of sauces, in order to be able to empty the bottle or jar to the end.
The EU is currently on the market have no foods produced using nanotechnology or products derived from cloned animals, but its report Kartika Liotard, the author stresses the need to ensure that such products pls are freely enters the market in the future. pls
