Foods produced using nanotechnology, prior authorization and the placing pls on the market of a specific risk assessment must be carried out, - the requirements reinstalled the European Parliament's Environment and Health Committee. In preparation for the second reading in Parliament Environment Committee repeatedly insists that the regulation on novel foods (which were not used in Europe before 1997) authorizing the procedure to exclude foods produced by nanotechnology, and products derived from cloned animals and their offspring.
The Committee emphasizes that before nanotechnology acquired food licensing take risks, and all the ingredients indicated on the label. In the case of animal cloning, it argues that cloning is contrary to the rules on animal protection. It therefore calls on the Commission to submit a separate legislative proposal on these issues.
